HLA Typing HLA B27 PCR Test Description HLA Typing HLA B27 PCR Possession of the human leukocyte antigen (HLA) class 1 allele HLA-B27 is Closely associated with Growth of the spondyloarthritides, a group of related diseases Such as ankylosing spondylitis and reactive arthritis.Ankylosing spondylitis is a common inflammatory rheumatic disease, affecting up to 0.5% of the population. The association of HLA-B27 with ankylosing spondylitis was first described in 1973, and is among the strongest described for a HLA locus. A recent study found that 94% of ankylosing spondylitis patients are HLA-B27-positive, compared with 9.4% of controls, giving an odds ratio of 161 with a 95% confidence interval of 113-- 230. HLA-B27 is also less significantly associated with reactive arthritis and with the spondyloarthritis associated with psoriasis and inflammatory bowel disease. These conditions share clinical features including arthritis of the spine and large joints, and involvement of the skin, eye, genital mucosa and heart

HLA Typing HLA B27 PCR TEST DETAILS

What is HLA b27 disease?

Everyone knows that there is a type of cells in the blood that make white blood cells in the body. There are many protein molecules on the surface of white blood cells. One type of molecule is called HLA. If HLA is likened to a big family, there are many small families in this big family. The most important ones are small families such as HLA-A and HLA-B. In the small family of HLA-B, there is an important molecule. It is HLA-B27. In 1973, it was discovered whether a person with ankylosing spondylitis is associated with the presence of HLA-B27 on this person's white blood cells.

Now, we have learned that more than 90% of patients with ankylosing spondylitis have HLA-B27 on white blood cells. The proportion of HLA-B27 positive in different ethnic groups is different, and the incidence of ankylosing spondylitis is also different. For example, in the Indian population, 50% of people are HLA-B27 positive, 12% of them have ankylosing spondylitis ; 4% to 13% of Caucasians are HLA-B27 positive, and the incidence of the disease is about 1 %; HLA-B27 positive in blacks is rare, and the incidence of ankylosing spondylitis is also low; the positive rate of HLA-B27 in Chinese is about 4.5%, and the prevalence of ankylosing spondylitis is about 0.3%. Therefore, HLA-B27 has a strong correlation with the onset of ankylosing spondylitis , but the role of HLA-B27 in its pathogenesis is still not fully understood.

Although HLA-B27 is strongly associated with ankylosing spondylitis , it does not mean that people with positive HLA-B27 will have ankylosing spondylitis . It is now known that only about 10% of HLA-B27-positive people have ankylosing spondylitis . If you think that HLA-B27 is positive, you will get ankylosing spondylitis , which is obviously wrong. HLA-B27 is only one of the prone factors of ankylosing spondylitis .

HLA-B27 is inherited. If the HLA-B27 of the father or mother HLA-B27 is positive, the likelihood of HLA-B27 positivity in the child is greatly increased, but not every child's HLA-B27 is positive. HLA-B27 is carried for life, and will not turn negative with treatment. Therefore, positive people are positive for a lifetime, and negative people are negative for a lifetime. Therefore, there is no need to grieve and worry about people, and it is not necessary to seek medical advice everywhere to try to make HLA-B27 negative. Remember: HLA-B27 positive does not mean that you will have ankylosing spondylitis , but the chance of developing ankylosing spondylitis is greater than that of HLA-B27.

What is HLA-B27 PCR Test?

HLA B27 Typing test is performed on a sample of blood to measure the level of HLA B27 antigen in the blood through DNA PCR Methodology. It is performed to confirm Autoimmune Disorder, Bone Degeneration and Bone Inflammation and also during the treatment and after the treatment of Autoimmune Disorder, Bone Degeneration, Bone Inflammation and Chronic Pain. Monoclonal antibodies and fluorescein develop such a flow cytometer to obtain an unprecedented development in various fields, such that the multi-parameter determination while flow cytometry is rapid, Sensitive and specific detection of the expression of a specific antigen in a particular cell population . And conventional compared with a method using a flow cytometer to detect the expression of HLA-B27, sensitivity 100%, specificity of 97.4%, a negative result of ankylosing spondylitis negative 99.9%; results stable , samples between , between different instruments, the reproducibility between different laboratories is high. Measured value is higher than the reference value as positive, negative and vice versa.

What is cost of HLA-B27 DNA PCR Test?

HLA B27 Test Cost is 1500.00 INR.

How are the results Interpreted ?

Positive results : If HLA-B27 is positive and the patient has chronic pain, inflammation and/or visible degenerative bone lesions on the X-ray film, the test usually supports ankylosing spondylitis, reactive arthritis or other autoimmune Diagnosis of the disease, especially when the patient is young (<40 years old when the first symptom).

If you do not have any symptoms and related family history, HLA-B27 positive results are of little clinical significance and cannot be used to predict the probability of HLA-B27-related autoimmune diseases.

Negative results : If the HLA-B27 test is negative, the above-mentioned related diagnosis cannot be excluded at this time, because the above diseases can also be obtained in HLA-B27-negative people.

In summary, although HLA-B27 testing cannot be used to diagnose or exclude diagnoses, additional information can be provided that can be used in conjunction with clinical symptoms and other laboratory tests to aid in the diagnosis or exclusion of certain autoimmune diseases.
