We are the only authorized private DNA test centre for 90 countries to perform Legal Immigration DNA tests sample collection and testing services.

What is DNA?

Deoxyribonucleic acid, or DNA, is the genetic material you inherit from your mother and father. DNA can tell you a lot about yourself. DNA is essentially code. The order and combination of the code provide instructions for creating organic material.

Imagine you’re reverse engineering source code for a video game. If you find a function that solves a puzzle, you can intuit that the game includes puzzle solving. If you find a function in that code for jumping and climbing, the game might have more action elements.

Types of DNA Testing:

There are multiple types of DNA tests. The three most common are Y-DNA testing, autosomal DNA testing, and mitochondrial DNA testing,(mtDNA testing).

To understand the differences between these tests, it can help to know how DNA is organized. Human DNA mostly comes in long stretches called chromosomes and each person typically has 23 pairs, for a total of 46 chromosomes.

Y-DNA tests look at one of the chromosomes in the 23rd pair, the Y chromosome. Autosomal DNA tests measure 22 pairs of chromosomes called the autosomes. And, mtDNA tests consider a tiny snippet of DNA stored in a completely different place in the cell, the mitochondria.

Process for DNA Testing:

When you need to undergo a DNA test for any reason, you might be curious about how the process works. DNA testing is a science. The method of performing the test requires a lab and specialized machinery.

Sample Collection

This can be any bodily fluid or hair from a person, as they all carry DNA. The most common, and a least invasive sample is taken is a swab of the inside of your cheek.

Lyse Cells

This process will break down the membranes of the cells. Typically, performed by adding an enzyme to a solution containing the DNA sample.

There are multiple ways to separate DNA. However, the most common is a process called electrophoresis. This method uses an electric field to sort molecules in a sample. The unique molecular structure of DNA forces it away from the rest of the sample.

A process called PCR is used to generate copies of the DNA. These copies are then be tested for genetic markers.

Testing is the finding of genetic markers in the DNA that identify the relationship. There are thousands of known genetic markers, but a relationship DNA test reports on 16 to 24 specific genetic markers that can prove a genetic relationship.

Now that markers have been obtained, they can be matched against an unknown DNA sample. This will help to show if the unknown is the same person as the DNA donor. In the case of a paternity DNA test, the potential father must match half of the child’s genetic markers; the other half comes from the mother.

We are the only private lab to perform 24 marker DNA test with a blood sample.
