Renin is a proteolytic enzyme released from juxtaglomerular cells of the kidney. The enzyme cleaves a substrate to produce Angiotensin I which in turn produces Angiotensin II. This metabolite plays a key role in various forms of hypertension. Increased levels are seen in Renal hypertension, Addisonƒ??s disease and Secondary hypoaldosteronism. Low levels are detected in Hyporeninemic hypoaldosteronism and Primary aldosteronism.

PLASMA RENIN DIRECT test is a medical procedure that measures the level of renin in the blood. Renin is an enzyme that helps to regulate blood pressure and electrolyte balance in the body. This test is often ordered by doctors to diagnose high blood pressure, kidney disorders, and other conditions related to the renin-angiotensin-aldosterone system (RAAS).

Cost of PLASMA RENIN DIRECT Test in India

The cost of a PLASMA RENIN DIRECT test in India can vary depending on the location and the healthcare provider. On average, the cost of this test in India is around INR 7000. However, the price can range from INR 5000 to INR 10,000 or more depending on where you get the test done. It is always advisable to check with your healthcare provider about the cost of the test before getting it done.

  • High blood pressure that is difficult to control with medication
  • Dizziness or lightheadedness
  • Shortness of breath
  • Fatigue
  • Fluid retention or swelling
  • Abnormal heart rhythms
  • Frequent urination

Diagnosis with PLASMA RENIN DIRECT Test

The PLASMA RENIN DIRECT test is a simple blood test that can be done in a laboratory or hospital. The test involves drawing a small amount of blood from a vein in your arm and analyzing it for renin levels. The test results are usually available within a few days, and your doctor will interpret the results and provide a diagnosis based on your symptoms and medical history.

The PLASMA RENIN DIRECT test is often used in conjunction with other tests to diagnose conditions related to the RAAS. These may include:

  • Blood tests to measure electrolyte levels
  • Urine tests to check for protein, blood, or other abnormalities
  • Imaging tests such as ultrasound, CT scan, or MRI to visualize the kidneys and other organs
  • Electrocardiogram (ECG) to check for abnormal heart rhythms

Conclusion

The PLASMA RENIN DIRECT test is a useful diagnostic tool for identifying conditions related to the RAAS. If you exhibit symptoms such as high blood pressure, dizziness, or fatigue, your doctor may recommend this test to determine the underlying cause of your symptoms. The cost of the test in India can vary, so it is always advisable to check with your healthcare provider about the cost before getting it done.
